CHALK’s Community Organizers invite you to attend the 1st Annual Power Youth Movement Conference. CHALK’s Philosophy is to provide young people with the appropriate amount of training and support.

Power Youth Movement Conference will empower youth in our communities, raise awareness on issues that affect our daily lives, and strengthen existing youth leadership. Our goal is to reach 300 youth between the ages of 14-24 register for our very 1st conference, EVER!

The conference will feature a day filled with motivational guest speakers, delicious food, hip-hop music, graffiti artists, powerful workshops, raffles and resources to help, support and inspire you to become a strong youth leader.

We will be having special performances by Dregs One, Equipto, Big Rich and many more local bay area upcoming artist.

The first 10 youth to arrive receive a gift card! Doors open at 10:00a.m please arrive on time to check-in and enjoy breakfast! We are very excited to make this conference a great and meaningful time for youth. PLEASE spread the word and can’t wait to see you all soon!

E4FC is NOW RECRUITING for 2015-2016 Outreach and Legal Services Teams

Attention Youth: E4FC is NOW RECRUITING for 2015-2016 Outreach and Legal Services Teams!

E4FC invests in developing the concrete skills and leadership capacity of undocumented young people through our Outreach, Legal Services, and Policy Teams. In turn, these teams educate and engage the broader community on issues affecting undocumented young people and their families. In the past year, E4FC has reached over 100,000 undocumented young people, parents, and educators with information and resources about educational and career access, potential immigration remedies, and other rights and benefits available to undocumented young people.

APPLICATIONS for Outreach & Legal Services Teams are DUE SUNDAY APRIL 12th!

Applications for the Policy Team will be open in Fall 2015.

OVERVIEW OF LEADERSHIP TEAMS

Outreach Ambassadors lead community presentations and trainings for undocumented youth, parents, educators, and allies about the challenges and opportunities facing undocumented students. Outreach Ambassadors participate in an intensive yearlong training program to become powerful public speakers, hone their personal narratives, and strengthen their leadership skills.

Legal Advocates have helped more than 1,500 undocumented young people around the country by providing personalized information about potential routes to lawful status in the United States. This team supports young leaders interested in legal careers with extensive training in immigration law as well as mentorship and networking connections in the legal field. Many of our past Legal Advocates have obtained employment with reputable immigration attorneys and non-profit agencies, and have been admitted at top law schools across the country.

Policy Advocates are young leaders working to acquire critical policy analysis, research, and advocacy skills, while contributing to the advancement of E4FC’s advocacy priorities. The Policy Team will open applications in Fall 2015 for a new cohort of Policy Advocates to begin in 2016. For updates on the Policy Team’s ongoing work, visit the Policy News &

YFYI releasing grant application!

Youth Funding Youth Ideas is releasing a grant application for Youth Led projects! There are two types of grants available (Innovative Project Grant and Capacity Building) each up to $5,000 per project. The application is due on April 1st, 2015 by 8pm.

Join the Applicant Workshop on Friday, March 20th from 5:00-7:00 pm to get a chance ask individual questions, receive assistance in creating a project, learn the requirements for our grant, how to budget the project’s money and how to find resources.

Everyone is encouraged to attend the info session to learn more about our process, gain some more leadership skills and network with YFYI staff and other great projects. If you are interested in this opportunity please RVSP by going to the Youth Funding Youth Ideas website at yfyi.org.

MyPath wants YOUth to interview!

MyPath (formerly Mission SF Community Financial Center) places low-income youth and young adults on a path to economic mobility by ensuring they have access to quality financial products, a working knowledge of the financial system, and a peer-based social support system that encourages personal goal-setting and accountability.

MyPath is looking for youth and young adults to interview for a MAXIMUM of 1 hour this week or next! A  $25 gift certificates will be offered to all interviewees!

MyPath was selected to be a part of Civic Innovation Lab, a competitive 12-week program for three San Francisco Bay area non-profit organizations to explore mission-aligned ways to expand and potentially generate new revenue streams.  As part of this process, MyPath will be interviewing youth and young adults to gather their opinions, needs, and recommendations regarding youth financial empowerment education and information tools.
