2014 FULL YEAR JOB APPLICATION

Position One: CHALK Outreach Worker

Position Description: CHALK Outreach Workers are a group of young leaders who work directly in the community. Asfront-line staff, Outreach Workers provide youth and their allies with resources and information. Outreach Workers inform the community about CHALK programs and build connections throughout San Francisco.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Public Speaking: Conduct presentations about CHALK programs and services
  • Facilitation: Create and conduct skill building workshops
  • Assess community needs and identify available resources
  • Connect community members with resources and information
  • Build relationships with youth and adults in the community
  • Develop outreach plans and strategies
  • Participate in various community meetings and public events
  • Act as a liaison between CHALK and San Francisco neighborhoods
  • General office work

 

Position Two: YouthLINE Specialist

Position Description: YouthLINE provides youth and their allies with information and support by phone, the internet and television. YouthLINE specialists are trained to staff the YouthLINE phone line, maintain the YouthLINE website and produce YouthLINE Live, a television show that focuses on youth topics.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend trainings on active listening, crisis intervention, STD’s, LGBT issues, suicide prevention, etc.
  • Provide peer support, crisis intervention, and information on youth services to youth and their allies through YouthLINE’s free information and support line at 1-888-977-3399
  • Maintain a database of San Francisco youth services
  • Maintain various websites, including the YouthLINE sites youthlinesf.org and youthlinemedia.org
  • Edit film using Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, iMovie and Photo Booth, maintain an online journal & blogging
  • Use social networking websites (Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter) to connect youth to information about youth opportunities and services and to promote YouthLINEvideos
  • Produce YouthLINE television shows; research and develop show ideas, schedule guests, use studio equipment and host
  • Hire, train, and mentor a peer in the career field of Digital Media
  • General office work

 

Position Three: Youth Organizers

Position Description: The purpose of the youth organizer position is to raise awareness about issues facing young people and to develop youth-led strategies to address them. Youth hired as organizers will work on two campaigns (issues); Justice System andImmigrant Rights. No experience necessary. We will train you.

 

Youth Organizer Responsibilities Include:

  • Build strategic relationships, partnerships and collaborations
  • Public speaking; conduct presentations to educate youth and adults about campaign work
  • Conduct research to identify other models of effective strategies
  • Identify resources for young people involved in the justice system or facing deportation
  • Organize and staff community events related to campaign work
  • Facilitate workshops for young people, including juvenile offenders, and immigrant andundocumented youth

Compensation: The pay rate is $11.00/hour; 10-20 hours per week.
Eligibility: Applicants must be on juvenile or adult probation in San Francisco and be 16-21 years old.

2014 SUMMER JOB APPLICATION

Position: After-school Program Leader

Position Description: The purpose of the program leader position is to staff afterschool programs serving elementary and middle school aged youth. No experience necessary. We will train you.

 

After-school Leader Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate and facilitate activities
  • Provide tutoring and homework help
  • Supervise children and ensure their safety
  • Provide a safe and positive classroom environment
  • Participate in cleaning and maintaining the facilities and equipment

Compensation and Commitment: This is a summer job from July through September 2014. The pay rate is $11.00/hour; 10-20 hours per week. 100 hours of employment and training.

Eligibility: Applicants must be 18-24 years old and live in San Francisco.
